Sarah Murrant

I am motivated by collaboration, continuous learning and personal accountability, and am confident I can bring those skills to your team. I bring over ten years of public sector experience, diverse communications and stakeholder engagement competencies and proficiency working with diverse stakeholders. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Arts in Community Engagement at the University of Alberta to expand my theoretical and practical knowledge of engagement, which I have the opportunity to implement on a daily basis both personally and professionally.

Over my career, I have proven my ability to build collaborative relationships, demonstrate agility in times of change and my natural drive for results. I have successfully built capacity  by hosting workshops, offering strategic tools and templates, and providing advice to our members of my teams. I have demonstrated my natural ability to lead in times of change and uncertainty. In the wake of the 2016 Wildfire, I embraced the challenge of managing two teams of Communications and Engagement experts - one team in the Wildfire Recovery Task Force and one team in Municipal Administration. The obstacles I faced, and ultimately overcame, were significant and the learning was accelerated given the urgency, sensitivity and scope of the projects.

Throughout my employment, I have developed leadership and strategic thinking skills, and deepened my understanding people and relationships. I have gained valuable experience solving complex problems, communicating sensitive issues, initiating and managing ongoing projects, organizing public engagement sessions, and acting quickly and concisely in high-pressure situations.

In 2017, my husband and I took a career break, resigned from our jobs, sold off our personal belongings, and went on a 30,000 mile road trip. We visited 30 states in the US, 6 provinces in Canada, and even went to Mexico. Our two vizslas (Hungarian Pointers) were the happiest dogs ever and despite living in a tiny camper, we all returned stronger and with more love than ever before! Our Instagram from the road trip is Rollin Routeless

I believe with my education, professional experience and personal life understanding, I would be an asset to your team of fitness professionals!
