Tanya Cohn, a mother, wife, lifelong dancer, choreographer and master ballet teacher, 500 RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher), Durga Yoga School and Authentic Movements, Certificate of Wellness and Health, Yale University, certified Barre instructor, flexibility coach and water aerobics instructor.

Her resume includes training with some of the most respected dance programs, Chicago City Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Joffrey New York, Finnish National Ballet. Tanya’s professional dance career has included a diverse range of experiences including professional ballet, professional jazz companies, commercial productions, master classes, modeling, pageants, fitness programs, educational and inspirational speaking on body image, eating disorders, and faith. Her professional dance career spanned the United States, Scandinavia and Asia.

All of this culminated in the formation of her own school and company from 2006-2017 in the beautiful mountains of Johnson City, Tennessee. During that time, she helped to grow the community of dancers, musicians and actors to more than seven-hundred students and thirty-five instructors. She established her own curriculum, created and choreographed original contemporary dance productions, classical ballets and Broadway-style musical theatre productions all while teaching and running her school.

After selling her company in 2017 her heart needed healing and the ocean called her name. Charleston became her new home. Tanya takes her greatest love of dance and has created unique classes for all levels of Yoga. She has also been filling a need in the medical community with specialty classes (thoracic and G.I. needs).  Tanya teaches gentle beginner’s classes and Vinyasa strong flow classes throughout the Charleston and Summerville area. She teaches with a keen eye to detail, alignment, and proper technique. Her class style flows like she is dancing, and her love of movement is contagious. When not teaching, you will find her taking class or on the beach.
