Sandra Gibson

Sandra Gibson has been in the wellness industry for 30 years. Her experience includes fitness, nutrition, health education, and mind-body wellness. Over the past 20 years she has dedicated her practice to include yoga, pilates, and meditation. Sandra embraces the vitality approach to achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle: “Enjoy eating well, being active, and feeling good about yourself”. Sandra loves sharing wellness with others and always welcomes her three favorite C's...coffee, cheese, and chocolate :-).

As the Health Educator and Manager I am responsible for ensuring the effective development, coordination and implementation of materials for health promotion and disease prevention programs for the University of Waterloo student population. Educational initiatives include topics such as healthy nutrition, safer sex, healthy relationships, physical activity, responsible drinking, drug and alcohol awareness, smoking cessation, stress management, depression, suicide awareness and prevention, etc. Health education programming is developed using best-practices and focuses on risk reduction and social norming for students.

This course covered multiple nutrition topics such as macro- and micro-nutrients, nutrition through the lifespan, sports nutrition, eating disorders, etc. In addition to teaching the course, I was responsible for office hours, developing projects, marking assignments and exams and mentoring students.
