Originally from the Kansas City area, I always longed to live in more exotic settings. I tell people, “Kansas City is a great place…to be from” and the truth is it really was. I grew up feeling very safe, went to great schools, and was able to establish a strong patten of success for myself at a young age. In high school, I became very interested in music and it turned out to be a lifelong passion and profession for me. I went to college at Illinois State University and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelors of Music Education degree.
It was after college that I got the opportunity to live in my first more exotic place, the mountains of Colorado. For over 20 years I have been a resident of the Roaring Fork Valley which is the larger community that surrounds and supports the City of Aspen and the world-famous snow skiing resort community. Living in a resort community has been wonderful for me and I have enjoyed this lifestyle very much. The access to mountain biking, skiing, hiking, hunting, and river sports has been such an immense blessing in my life and I already have a lifetime of rich memories of adventures with good friends. The healthy lifestyle that people tend to live in this area has had a deep impact on my and I feel lucky to be feeling as good and energized as I do at my age.
While in the Roaring Fork Valley, I have held many jobs including managing a bike shop, skiing and snowboarding instructor, selling radio advertising, and working at the Aspen Airport, all while my real passion and career has been in teaching and playing music. I now have my own business called Rock and Roll Academy Roaring Fork, which is an after-school music education program for kids. I have also worked for the past 15 years in different capacities in the public and private schools and have a wealth of experience working with people of all ages teaching complex things.
It is now my desire to be living in a more tropical and warmer place and to eventually relocate to a city where there is more opportunity for playing music and teaching yoga. Teaching yoga and the health benefits of a regular practice is now my passion. I have recently finished my first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification. I am very excited to begin sharing the knowledge I have with others and beginning a new chapter of my life.
