Hi I'm Chelsea!:) I'm 40 years old and my entire life I have been passionate about health and fitness. It literally started at the age of 5, I went into Irish dancing, and this passion continued for the next 22 years. I now also teach this passion to other kids:) Not only do I teach them dance, I perform bootcamps for these young athletes to keep their bodies strong all around. I'm a mother to two wonderful human beings, ages 7 and 8. I love to teach them how to nourish their bodies, and challenge their capabilities. They literally are always watching, and I see this reflect in their play time, and everyday activities. The way they talk, push and coach eachother. "You can do this!" are daily words spoken in our home.
My journey with health and wellness continues on with the rest of my life. I am also a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Canada, and have been doing this job for the past 15 years. These past few years throughout the pandemic have been very challenging in acute care. I worked many many long hours, twelve hour nights and days with covid patients, fighting for their lives in the intensive care units and emergency rooms. This past year, I transitioned my career into the asthma clinic at the Alberta Children's Hospital, working with young kids with diagnosing and managing their breathing and asthma. This transition has opened my eyes to how important it is to teach these young kids about taking care of their bodies from the very beginning to give them all the tools to have a successful, fulfilling life. The pandemic definately has caused much "deconditioning" not just among kids, but also adults. This has motivated me more than ever to continue on this journey of educating and building communities for health and fitness for adults and kids, even families!
I am also a huge advocate for mental health. Again I see this reflect in my job as an RT. The pandemic was also hard for many different reasons in I think everyone's mental health. Educating in how fitness can help in all aspects of how we can challenge ourselves, increase our endorphins, and allow this to be an outlet is also a major goal for me!
I really enjoy bootcamp type classes, combining weights and cardio together to push our cardiovascular system, strengthen our lungs and heart, and balancing this with keeping our muscles conditioned and strong. As we age, we lose that muscle mass very fast. In order to lives our lives to the fullest and continue doing the things that we always have enjoyed its important to spend time on these important things. Everyday activities can be much easier when we keep our bodies moving daily. My goal is to educate as many people as I can about the importance of staying fit and active, and making it an enjoyable activity. I like to push people to their highest capabilities in keeping with a safe and enjoyable workout:)
