- Johanna Lyn
To Whom it may concern,
My name is Johanna Lyn, and I am an artist and educator. Over 15 years of teaching experience spans private and group music lessons for studios and school board affiliated extra curricular programs, examination and audition preparation, and artist development. My personal yoga practise is woven with the same discipline and intuition-led expression that characterizes my lifelong music practise. I advocate for interdisciplinary practises of all kinds, and encourage students to find outlets that serve them in an inspiring, challenging, and sustainable way.
A graduate of Yoga Tree’s teacher training program, my personal style features balance and strength within a dynamic flow that feels intuitive and expressive. Paramount to the aesthetic aspects of yoga, I believe in building awareness of the body and mind to find peace, vitality and joy. I love that mental health and the practise of vitality is slowly coming to a forefront in our fast paced culture. There is a great opportunity to marry physical fitness with emotional/mental wellbeing through yoga. I also advocate for Traditional Chinese Medicine, including herbalism, acupuncture and moxibustion, and subtly share elements of this healing with fellow yoga practitioners.
In my private music studio I am able to address the many postural concerns of musicians through yoga, and in keeping with my Dalcroze Eurhythmics studies, use the practise of physical movement to enhance musical expression. This translates to my yoga studio teaching, through my style which can be adapted for different levels of experience and physical ability. I hope to grow my practise and continue to share my passion for music and movement with others in a way that is healing and inspiring.
