Tamara Jenkins is a high energy, innovative fitness professional, master trainer and award-winning choreographer with experience in the areas of fitness, dance, personal training and professional cheerleading. In 2014, she launched her own group fitness format “Sculpt & Groove®” formally featured at 24 Hour Fitness and Lifetime Fitness. It alternates resistance-training segments with cardio dance intervals for a total body workout. It debuted at the Empower Fitness Convention Tour with rave reviews. Additionally, she trained future fitness professionals as an Instructor at Lifetime Academy in conjunction with the American Council on Exercise and served on the group fitness development task force for the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She currently is an Elite Ambassador for Oxygen Magazine and a National Fitness On-Demand Instructor for Lifetime Fitness.
As the founder of the FC Dallas Girls, one of hottest dance teams in major league soccer, she was the team’s director, fitness trainer and lead choreographer for five seasons. She also spent time in the NBA Developmental League as the dance team director of the Fort Worth FlyGirls Dance Team and Jr. Flyers Dancers. Additionally, she has choreographed top awarding dance routines for area high schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Prior to entering the fitness field, Tamara spent many years in senior management at a full-service advertising/public relations agency overseeing national accounts, managing multimillion-dollar budgets and event planning. Her hobby for fitness became her calling after losing her mother to diabetes and having 4 of her 5 siblings diagnosed with the disease.
Her choreography can be seen at football fields and basketball arenas throughout the United States as she works with professional cheerleaders and dancers on choreography for halftime performances at an annual P.R.O. Convention held in Atlanta. Some of the teams in attendance include the Washington Redskins, Charlotte Bobcats, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Washington Wizards, Indianapolis Colts and the Seattle Seahawks. She has traveled to Mexico City and Cancun as a guest instructor, presenter and competition judge for the Asociacion Nacional De Porristas (National Association of Cheerleaders) based in Mexico and is currently a freelance guest presenter and instructor for the United Dance Alliance (UDA) and the National Cheerleading Association (NCA).
Always finding time to motivate and encourage others to lead a healthy lifestyle, she teaches group fitness classes at Lifetime Fitness and Sanara Yoga & Wellness and formerly 24-Hour Fitness. She has received recognition for “Changing Lives Through Group Fitness” for 24 Hour Fitness in 2007, 2009, 2014 and 2017. In January 2017, she was selected one of twenty instructors nationwide from 24 Hour Fitness to perform in the nationally televised Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. She is often featured on ABC Affiliate/WFAA-Channel 8 as a fitness expert. She holds a degree in Journalism/Advertising from the University of Oklahoma and national certifications in personal training, group fitness, biomechanics and dietary nutrition with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and American Council on Exercise (ACE). She resides in Colleyville, Texas with her husband and two children.
