Katerina is a former Soviet Union national team tennis player and 1984 Soviet Union Doubles Champion. She has a rich history in tennis, both as a competitive player and as a coach.
From 1987 to 2000, Katerina coached tennis in Ukraine, working with high-performance juniors as well as beginner and intermediate players. She provided private and group lessons, fostering a love of the sport in students of all ages and skill levels.
After relocating to Canada, Katerina coached at several clubs in Vancouver, British Columbia, from 2002 to 2006. During this time, she also transitioned into real estate management and began competing again, this time as a senior player at the national and international levels.
Between 2010 and 2020, Katerina won multiple British Columbia Provincial and Canadian National Championships in singles and doubles. Representing Canada on the world stage, She competed in ITF Senior Tennis World Championships numerous times, achieving remarkable results:
- Semifinalist with Team Canada in 2013
- Singles quarterfinalist in 2014 and 2018
- Doubles silver medalist in 2014
- Doubles bronze medalist in 2018
Katerina achieved impressive international rankings, including:
- #1 in USTA Women’s 45+ Singles in the Pacific Northwest (BC, Washington, and Oregon) in 2018
- #6 in the world under ITF Senior Tennis in Women’s 45+ Doubles in 2018
- #7 in the world under ITF Senior Tennis in Women’s 45+ Singles in 2019
Katerina has transitioned from competitive play back to coaching, sharing her extensive knowledge and passion for tennis. Currently, Katerina is certified under Tennis Canada as Tennis Instructor Level 1, offers private and group lessons to kids and adults through Summer Smash Tennis in Vancouver, BC, and Penticton Tennis Club in Penticton, BC, where she continues to inspire and develop players of all levels.
