My name is Shyla Strain. I live in the beautiful PNW. I have been a fitness professional for over 28 years. I have worked in a combination of gyms & private training studios. I have worked with people of all ages & fitness levels, both one-on-one & in group environments, providing modifications & progressions to meet my clients/participants needs for a safe & efficient workout. I have spent a good portion of my career mentoring interns, teaching continuing education & training new trainers how to take the information they learned during the certification process & apply it to real life situations.
I believe exercise & nutrition are the keys to living a healthy & fit life. I walk the talk & practice what I preach! I am passionate about helping my clients achieve optimal wellness and have FUN doing it! Exercise should not be a chore & nutrition should not be depriving. I believe that most everyone can find something they enjoy doing to move their bodies in a way that increases their fitness level. I believe that we can still incorporate our "food pleasures" and maintain healthy nutrition. It's about balance & moderation!
My hobbies include strength & interval training, teaching yoga, hiking, biking, obstacle course races, sprint triathlons, paddle boarding, kayaking, sun bathing (when the sun ☀️ shines in the PNW ), camping, traveling & spending time with my husband, my kids, my grandkids, my mom & my dogs! I love teaching, training, meeting new people & learning new things!
