Jo-Ann Hawes

My name is Jo-Ann Hawes and I have been a Personal Trainer /Bootcamp/ Yoga Instructor since 2006.    

I started my fitness journey in the figure world competing in 2006 and qualifying for Nationals in the Figure Open Class.  I continued to compete in figure and qualify for Nationals in the Open Class category before entering the Masters Class (age 35+) 3 more times.  I am continuing my journey, but in 2018 I decided I needed a change and went into the Women’s Physique Division as well.  I won my Pro Card and competed as a Pro, but after 14 years of competing, I decided to live the ft life, inspire others, live a balanced lifestyle.

I embody the athletic and bodybuilding/fitness community, and encourage others and try to inspire others to become fit and healthy.  I am a very different type of athlete.  I have a mixture of beauty, strength, passion, and drive.  I have the potential to help change the stereotype that strong women and bodybuilders are unattractive and masculine. 

I believe I am not just an athlete, but a role-model as well.  I have people messaging me and stopping me in the gym for advice.  I always return their messages and questions with gratitude and advice.  I am always smiling, positive and up-beat.  I interact with everyone that comes my way, even during competition.

• BC Provincials 2007 - Figure Open - 3rd place
• CBBF Nationals 2008 - Figure Open - 11th

• 2017 CBBF Nationals – 6^th Place in Masters Class C, and 8^th place in Open Class D
• 2017 The Popeye’s Fall Classic – I made my Women’s Physique Debut and Won my Open Class, Won my Masters Class, and took the OVERALL win
• 2018 Olympia Amateur – Figure Masters – 5^th place; Figure Open class D – 3^rd place; and Women’s Physique B – 1^st place and IFBB Pro Card
