I grew up in Ft. Thomas, KY, with a love and passion for music, dance, art, and nature. I spent my youth dancing (competitively and for fun) with Pearman Dance Studio. I sang and danced with Guys and Dolls in high school and was a member of our elite choir, Highlandaires. When I wasn't dancing (which I almost always was) you could typically find me drawing or spending time outside in nature, often along a creek or in the woods exploring with friends.
I spent most of my adult life working jobs that bored me or (like many people) caused a significant amount of stress in my life, but I always had a passion for helping people. I was always in search of ways to improve the way I was living, to achieve work-life balance, and to find relief for the stresses I was under both at work and at home. As I made new discoveries in each of those areas my desire to help myself often led to a desire to help the people around me.
Over the course of my life I piddled around with online health and wellness videos until one day when my best friend invited me to a yoga class. I remember thinking to myself: "I could totally use some "om" Zen-ness in my life". I had no idea what I was actually getting into and the affect yoga would have on both me and my life. That class changed everything. Whenever I was feeling down-and-out, stressed out, or just flat out overwhelmed I could always step onto my mat, out of my conditions, and into my body. I found freedom and I found healing.
During those times my passion often trickled into my work-life but (sadly), also like many companies, was not something that was encouraged in the workplace. One day, I lost my job. What seemed like the end of the world ended up being the best thing that could have happened to me. I now had the time to take a yoga teacher training that I had my eye on, and that was the beginning of everything.
Today I am a certified 300-hour Vishwa Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher, Yoga Trapeze Teacher, Breath Coach, Reiki Practitioner, Bhuta Thai Elemental Thai Massage Therapist, Sound Therapy Practitioner, and Power Pilates instructor. I can finally say that I am working in a field that I love and value, and I am finally free to help people in meaningful and fulfilling ways.
My focus is helping adults reduce stress, improve flexibility and mobility, and increase bone and muscle strength in their bodies. It is one of my great joys to be able to help people step out of their day-to-day lives and into a place of peace, healing, and personal growth.
On and off the mat, I don’t take myself too seriously. I love to laugh but I am always looking for new ways to learn and grow. I strive to live a life of peace and personal growth through time on my mat, continued education, workshops, and constant study.
I appreciate the joy in life and do my best to bring that joy to everything I do. I am passionate about the environment and try to live as consciously and sustainably as I can (which, if you do the same, you will know, like our yoga practice, is also a journey). When I'm not teaching I spend time with my family, in nature, traveling, taking continued education courses, or reading (I love a good book).
I am also the *proud* mother of one incredible daughter who is making a difference in the lives of the people she encounters daily through her work as a Behavioral Health Specialist at a local hospital, two sweet fur babies, and one grand-fur baby. For all of these things I consider myself more than blessed.
