Ashley McCue

I currently live in Amsterdam, NL. I moved here in 2005. Originally I am from Kansas, USA. Throughout my adult life I have traveled around the US and lived in various places such as Italy, Colorado, Alaska, New York City and the Bay Area.

I started practicing yoga in 2000 in New York City. Mostly I practiced vinyasa yoga and then tried Bikram yoga and fell in love. It made a huge impact on my life both physically and mentally. Since that time I have practiced mostly these two types of yoga.

In September 2015 after selling my bakery in Amsterdam, I chose to take a vinyasa teacher training. It was an incredible experience. I finished the training in May 2016. I began teaching after finishing the course at Yagoy Studios where I also did my training.

During the vinyasa training, I was introduced to yin yoga and yoga therapy. I was so curious about this that I began a yin yoga training, also at Yagoy with Hellen van der Harten in January 2017. I completed the nearly year-long course in November of 2017. In April 2018, I attended a yoga training retreat in Portugal with a focus on yoga therapy with Anneke Sips of Network Yoga Therapy. Before the pandemic began, I had taken two 40-hour modules in yoga therapy with Svastha Yoga in connection with Network Yoga Therapy.

I have taught both vinyasa and yin classes at different yoga studios in Amsterdam and private lunchtime classes for a local Amsterdam company called Medical Research Center until the Corona Virus pandemic closures in March 2020 and again for a short term when studios were briefly open again in the fall of 2020. During the lockdown I practiced at home with my own personal practice and online.

My passion for teaching is now driving me to open the book back up to teach again. I am excited and currently developing ideas for a new website.
