Fitness changed my life, let me explain to y’all why and who and all that makes me, well, me today.
My whole life I was made to feel less than by friends, peers, and certain family members. I had lack of self-confidence growing up and I was a victim of bullying at school. Growing up wasn’t easy as mom had to work and dad really wasn’t around to take care of my little sister and me. I was basically raising a child being a child and not even mature enough to properly take care of my sister. Life wasn’t easy, but I didn’t complain.
As time went by, I used music as a coping mechanism to deal with pain as I was on a state of depression and hopelessness. I love all genres of music, I feel like it connects deeply into my soul. However, when I heard rap music, specifically, for the first time, it inspired me to turn my pain into a beautiful work of art. Hearing rappers like Eminem, Tyler the Creator, and Hopsin and so many others that wrote about similar struggles as me and how they became successful was a form of self-therapy. I eventually learned to be ok with being myself and decided to use music as a tool to inspire others along the way.
Now let me show y’all where fitness collides here. When I was 13, my cousin introduced me to a fitness workout that would change the way I viewed fitness, EVER. The original INSANITY WORKOUT by Shaun T. Feeling proud and accomplished, I completed the 60 day workout. It basically taught me the essentials of working out which was a critical component into the reason why it was so easy for me to become the Certified Personal Trainer that I am. Because I broke down the Macro, meso, and microcycle program design of the workout at such a young age, it help build my foundation of my own proper workout routines.
After leaving a toxic relationship with my ex boyfriend and father of my child, I decided to mix up my brand and who I am today with music, yoga, and fitness, into my new movement called 4KM, it’s a way of life.
