Ulrica Griffiths

I'm Ulrica Griffiths and I live in Haar near Munich, Bavaria, Germany. I tried all kinds of sports as a kid and stuck with basketball for the longest time, but I love variety! I was a regular at the disco as a teenager and skipped one basketball practice a week to go to aerobics. In the GDR (East Germany), where I grew up, it was officially called "pop gymnastics". Back then, in the mid-80s, I even took the instructor training. It was only when I took the exam that they realised I was much too young to get the license. The compromise was then called "assistant instructor".

After graduating from university, I didn't dance at all for a long time because my husband is not a dancer. At some point I discovered Zumba® and was immediately hooked. Now even my husband comes along to Zumba®! My other job is that I am the owner of a PR and Social Media agency.

I have been passing on my joy of sport and dancing as a licensed Zumba® trainer since 2015. I am licensed by the DOSB as a group fitness trainer for aerobics, step aerobics, strengthening and stretching. The German Olympic Sports Confederation ('Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund', DOSB) is the non-governmental umbrella organization of German sport. I also teach Zumba® Step and Strong Nation.

I am convinced that everyone can find the sport that is so much fun that exercise becomes a need and not a chore.  It often helps to remember your childhood and think: What was fun for me then and what am I missing today?
