Katie Lillard

i found myself on a yoga mat for the first time when I was an 18 year old freshman student in art school.  For the next seventeen years, through a slew of geographical moves around the country, job changes, and the destabilizing experience of becoming a parent, I found yoga studios to be a safe haven.  Any time I brought my body to my mat, especially in the company of others, I felt relief, I felt grounded, I felt myself.  For my entire adult life, yoga has been something that I know for sure.

Throughout this time period, and especially after having my son, the occasion to steal away for an hour-long class became more and more sparing.  Meeting life's responsibilities in the absence of time for "self-care" eventually became more than I could bare.  I made a commitment to recharge my soul-battery without knowing how.  And then, I remembered my mat, and the soundness of mind that came from practicing yoga.  I decided enroll in a 200 hour yoga teacher certification course that has given me so much more than a series of asanas.

I now offer the practice that I've developed to others as an instructor.  My classes are focus on building breath awareness, alignment, and core strength/flexibility. My intermediate vinyasa flow sequences promote mental and physical resilience that comes from meeting your edge in an uplifting, supportive environment.
