I've always identified myself as an athlete; always involved in sports, and movement in general. But I found intentional fitness and weight lifting in my 30s. I had gotten out of an abusive relationship and found myself floundering a bit with self-image. I knew I couldn't go back to the person I was before, but I also knew I didn't want to stay in the lost and powerless mindset I was in. I decided I wanted to be strong, both mentally and physically, and I was determined to love the person I saw in the mirror again; and that is when I found weight lifting. My degree is in psychology so I immersed myself in positive energy and mind focus to make sure I found forgiveness and genuine happiness with myself, while at the same time dove head first in learning everything there was to know about the body, muscles, endurance, energy expenditures, functional fitness and nutrition. I loved being able to push myself beyond the limits I had set for myself, manipulating weights and exercise to benefit goals, and accomplishing my own impossibilities. I felt like I had found my superpower and I wanted to share it with others! I became a certified personal trainer and diligently built a book of regular clients while also continuing to work a full time job. From there I found group fitness, where I realized I could reach more people at once, and knew I was hooked for life. After two years of teaching classes and doing PT on the side, the club I worked for pursued me to take over the Regional Group Fitness Director position for a Crunch franchise. Through this position I truly believe I am helping to lead amazing instructor teams that are changing the world one group fitness class at a time. THIS is what people talk about when they say 'find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.' Teaching and helping others become the best versions of themselves is what fills my soul with joy and I honestly feel lucky they pay me to do what I do!
These days I still do some personal training on the side, but most of work is in the group fitness setting. Teaching everything from high intensity interval training to slower mind/body formats, strength, cardio, core, TRX, etc. Currently I'm finishing up my 200 hour yoga cert, which I anticipate having by April 2023.
