Hello! Bonjour! Hola! Tansi!
I am a fitness enthusiast and yoga instructor from beautiful Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatchewan, Canada! Recently, I have completed international yoga teaching experiences in exotic Fiji at the Sheraton Fiji Resort and Golf Spa and in Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico at the on the beautiful bay of the Dreams resort. Namaste :)
After practicing various styles of yoga since my teen years, I completed 200 hour teacher training with My Vinyasa Practice (Michelle Young, Kara Hashke (mentor)-Austin, Texas) during Covid to become a Yoga Alliance Certified RYT200 Yoga Instructor in 2021. Furthermore, I completed supplementary courses in Trauma-Informed Yoga (2021) as well as Yoga Therapy for Anxiety (2023) from My Vinyasa Practice. In 2023, I certified with NTY/Oxygen Methodized Training (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) and obtained Red Cross First Aid and CPR training. Additionally, I have continued my learning journey with a Meditation Certification from My Vinyasa Practice in 2025. Also in 2025, I have obtained certified credentials in Chair Yoga Instruction.
As a lifelong educator, teaching yoga ignites a passion in me to work with other people as they achieve individual goals on their personal wellness journeys. My pursuit for further knowledge is endless and involves a continual quest for learning. Each class I teach is customized for the occasion: time of day, location, participants. Rich in variety, whether through poses, breathwork, awareness, meditation, or sound, my teaching style brings a fresh and welcoming perspective to the indoor or outdoor setting. Working closely with the the needs and levels of the group I am teaching, every class will include a variety of new elements and adaptive dimensions for the student to absorb.
In the studio or in nature, my teaching style is encouraging, compelling, unique, and soothing. I aim to bring a mindful union of body and soul with the breath to assist the student in grounding themselves while connecting to the earth.
Class adaptations to the needs of the students are paramount when I teach a class with a foundation on breathwork, accompanied by meditation, as essential calming elements. Inventively and intuitively, taking students to the edge of challenge while encouraging soft relaxation during my classes provides students with choices and options. I love combining the powerful energy of Yang yoga with the feminine energy of Yin yoga in a YangYin class. Hallmarks of my teaching style that focus on student wellness include Yin yoga, Flow Yoga, Deep Stretch and Relaxation Yoga, Gentle Yoga, pranayama and meditation. As per my training, I am to happy to teach Vinyasa yoga involving creative sequencing with attention paid to the transitions between poses. I encourage participants to cultivate an inner focus and awareness of the present moment. Providing options to students through accessibility and body positivity is important to me. I believe yoga is for all people: all shapes, all ages, all sizes, all bodies.
I live an active lifestyle through hiking, golfing, strength & weight training, skating, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, and cycling. You can find me enjoying travel to new places, getting to know people from different backgrounds and cultures, exploring languages and tasting new foods. I am often in a classroom somewhere teaching secondary level English, intensive reading support or French Immersion classes. Perhaps you will find me editing a novel, a performance piece, or academic paper for someone. Whether in the middle of an urban space, on a beach, in the mountains, or a desert, I carry my art supplies with me. As an artist, I enjoy En Plein Air watercolour painting and urban sketching.
A life-long learner, I have also completed Level 1 and Level 2 of Expressive Art Therapy and Nature-Based Expressive Art Therapy with Cathy Malchiodi to learn how to integrate trauma-informed practices, "brain-wise," and body-based expressive arts approaches that facilitate self-regulation and co-regulation.
I possess a Masters degree in International Educational Administration (San Diego State University, CA), a Bachelor of Secondary Education (University of Saskatchewan) with a double major in English and French and 2 years additional study at the PhD level.
