Andrea Hodge

Andrea Cladis Hodge holds an MFA in Writing from Fairfield University and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Elmhurst College with degrees in English Writing, Interdisciplinary Communications, French, and Secondary Education. She currently works as an English Professor, a freelance editor, writing consultant, and licensed fitness professional. She has has been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years and has plans to open her own gym in the western suburbs of Chicago soon! Andrea is passionate about movement and cognitive training to improve both mind and body gains in every workout! She is a lifelong athlete who believes that a body in motion, stays in motion! Her favorite sport is tennis, she loves to compete in triathlons, and spends most of her time inspiring others through high energy dance and fitness classes. Her preferred group exercise class to teach is Kickbox Barre, which is a challenging fusion of high intensity boxing blended with the power, strength, and functional mobility work of Barre training. When she's not writing or teaching, you will find her cooking, reading, attending Chicago White Sox games, spending time with her family, and serving at her local church. She is an Advisory Board Member for Cambridge Scholars Publishing and has been published by SAGE Academic, NOVA Science Publishers, and several print and online periodicals. She is the author of the memoir, Tatsimou, Hold On!, the Christian nonfiction books, Finding the Finish Line and Fearless Stride, and the poetry collections, Forgotten Coffee, Exhale Again, and Pregnancy Poetry & Prayers. Her first English textbook titled, English Essentials for Compelling Communication: Great Grammar, Captivating Composition, and Decisive Discourse was published by Kendall Hunt in 2021.
