What was your first yoga class like as a student and what led you to the practice?
My first class was in 2010 at Chagrin Yoga, it was so hard and I loved that you could sweat and workout while stretching and challenging different muscles. Although I was always fit and felt strong, yoga challenged me mentally and physically. I let the music and the movement take over, and leave the rest on the mat.
Favorite mantra/quote:
"If it doesn't give you peace, profits or purpose, don't give it your time, energy or attention"
favorite yoga pose:
Fish pose (Matsyasana)
what is your teaching style like?
-->Challenging, playful, energetic, hot, sweaty, fun, inspiring and deep / Empowering, intentional, interconnected, aligned, athletic, adaptable to all levels. I always focus on healthy alignment and seamless transitions.
-->Waves of intensity and ease, energetic but soothing. Peak moments of strength followed by a release. Lots of guidance for alignment, inclusive of all levels. Curated playlists and themes. *Always have an awesome playlist ready!
Do you have something fun you'd like to share about yourself, hobbies, etc.
In my free time you can find me cooking vegan cuisine, riding horses, hanging with my ride or die (Scout/mini aussiedoodle) or being out in nature.
What advice would you give to someone new to yoga?
find balance between effort and ease. The highest hurdle for someone just getting started, is just that...getting started. Just make it happen and keep the commitment. Accept that you are a beginner and take it slow. Take your time in your sessions, and forget about the images you may have about the perfect yoga pose. Focus on developing your own physical and mental wellness - breathe by breathe. Consistency is the key. Be messy, be fearless, keep trying over and over and over again! Your practice is never going to look like anyone else's, so feel empowered to make it entirely your own.
