Nina Sullivan

I have been practicing yoga almost daily for the past three years now. My favorite thing about yoga is how easily you can integrate it into your every day life in so many ways. As a runner who has recently gotten into weight lifting I am already seeing my own practice making a huge difference on my stamina, coordination, flexibility, and concentration. The breathing techniques I use have had an effect on my running and lifting and of course there has been a multitude of positive effects on my mental health.

The number one response I've heard when I tell people I teach yoga is that yoga is too difficult for their body. Fortunately, Kripalu yoga's specific style focuses on making yoga accessible to Every Body by focusing on proper foundations for beginners while at the same time giving more advanced students the ability to explore each pose more fully.

I personally specialize in trauma - informed practices with a focus on returning to your body in a gentle and compassionate manner. I enjoy sharing what I believe to be the cornerstone of deepening your practice - connecting breath with postures - and I offer props and modifications along the way to customize your yoga flow to you specifically. My classes are a combination of centering, breathing techniques, postures and meditation, while leaving plenty of time for savasana. I also like to invite the idea of themes, as well as mantras, affirmations and sometimes poetry and other writing. I believe in creating a safe space for practice and use music and oftentimes scent to deepen your experience.

I live with my puppy Ramsey - who sometimes joins me on the mat during Zoom classes! - and I am a photographer and jewelry designer as well.
