Vanessa started practicing Yoga in 2009 after a back injury prevented her from continuing many or her regular activities. At first she attended once or twice a week but quickly she realized that Yoga was meant to be a much bigger part of her life. Helping her get back in shape but also helping her become more aware, more grounded.
During her travels, Vanessa tried different styles of yoga in Barcelona, Berlin and the US, and attended workshops with Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Dharma Mittra, Dallas Delahunt, Geneviève Laquerre, Nikki Vilella and Faith Hunter. Her love of Yoga grew each year and in 2015 she received her Yoga Alliance 200hr teacher training certification from Kimiko Fujimoto, her long-time mentor, at Studio Breathe. Vanessa continued her training with Dallas Delahunt in hands on enhancements, completed the Inclusivity Training for Yoga: Building Community with Compassion with education expert and yoga teacher Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts and a Yoga Nidra training with Bram Levinson.
She continues to study with Seane Corn and trains in Yoga Physics with Alexandria Crow.
In May 2016 she completed the Off the Mat, Into the World (OTM) Yoga, Purpose & Action Leadership training and continued her training in December 2016 with the Leadership Intensive in Santa Barbara. The trainings are lead by Seane Corn, Hala Khouri, Suzanne Sterling and Teo Drake.
Vanessa believes that music and yoga work beautifully together to quiet the mind and to open the heart. Her classes are accessible to all levels and her ability to offer alternate options to move has been developed through years of experience teaching different people and bodies in offices, studios and private classes.
She loves to laugh and her classes are energetic, light hearted and creative. Vanessa incorporates different yogic philosophies and loves to share snippets of stories, poems, music and books that have touched her heart. Playlist included!
