Idaho Dance Theatre - President
Movement has always been a part of who I am. It is in my heart and bones. I've experienced life-altering connections and transformations through moving and its holistic ability to bring out our emotional healing, self expression, and neurological regulation, for universal connection with each other and overall better health and mental wellbeing.
My intention as an inclusive dance & yoga educator, instructor and choreographer is to facilitate & nurture a person's personal freedom of artistic, physical and emotional expression of movement that is unique and beautiful to them. I also intend to transform each student into a more empathetic person towards others and themselves through co-regulation and somatic connections, that translates to compassionate connections as human beings. Which in turn changes our world into a more compassionate place.
I've been instructing and choreographing inclusive dance for over 12 years, including hundreds of students and groups of all ages and ways of moving from all parts of the country.
It’s been an adventure creating over 30 accessible pieces of choreography. And have built a curriculum and instruction for dance and yoga, that is built on the foundations of inclusion and adaptability that allow for accessibility. Classes and choreography are structured to support unique movements and modes of expression. I've spent years building community programs for adaptive classes and performing for community events. I currently regularly choreograph with Idaho Dance Theatre and my company Pivot Movement giving the art community a glimpse into new ways of seeing dance.
My therapeutic work includes a practice supporting individual and group work utilizing the neural transforming methods of EMDR and somatic/polyvagal
techniques and movement that is trauma-informed, to regulate neurological patterns for prefrontal lobe access.
