In 2009, I had a six week break from ballet classes and was looking for a way to fill that void and stay in shape, so I decided to try yoga. I never expected to stick with it after those six weeks, but I was hooked!

In yoga, I found the mind/body/spirit connection to be the best form of self care I could practice. It fit perfectly into my world of wife, mom, school counselor and dancer. Yoga helped me meld my worlds. On more than one occasion, my kids or husband would “suggest” I go take a yoga class more. Obviously, my yoga practice benefited the whole family.

Having worked in education for almost three decades, I have a deep respect and passion for learning, so pursuing yoga teacher training was a natural progression of my yoga practice. I love understanding the whys and hows of things, so learning more about yoga, the philosophy as well as the physical practice, deepened my commitment to the practice itself. Melding the understanding of the practice on a cognitive level with the physical practice on the mat has taught me that yoga is so much more than touching your toes.

I completed my first 200 hr teacher training with a focus on Hatha yoga in 2017 and followed that with another 200 hr and then 300 hr upgrade to broaden my understanding of different schools of yoga. In 2020 I completed the Mindfulness Teacher Certification with Dallas Yoga Center to better understand mindfulness and meditation. Since then I have also completed postnatal yoga certification and sound healer certification. I continue to learn from teachers and students as my practice grows each time I step on the mat or lead others through practice.
