- Jodee Jensen
I am Jodee Jensen. My spin instructor encouraged me to pursue getting certified so I could lead my own classes. I am forever grateful to her for noticing that I had more to give. Spinning is a newfound passion. I absolutely love the time I spend riding, preparing workouts, and making playlists for my riders. Pairing exercise with the perfect song gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Riders who come to my class can be sure they will have fun, feel safe, sweat, and leave class feeling energized.
Playing outside is my favorite pastime. I love sports related activities such as walking, hiking, bike riding, kayaking, playing catch, and camping. I remember being a kid, playing outside with my friends, after dark. Every evening, I dreaded the moment when my dad flashed the porch light off and on indicating it was time to come inside. Getting me indoors was a chore then and it is still a chore now. I was the catcher for a college fastpitch softball team from 1988-1992. 30 years after I graduated, I got to catch again in a game during an alumni event vs the current team. Bragging a little bit....at 50 years old, I threw out a player trying to steal second base.
Speaking of second base, I am a 2-time breast cancer survivor. Cancer came for me at age 29 and again at age 47. After the more recent diagnosis in 2017, I had a double mastectomy. During cancer treatments, my body couldn't do the things I was used to doing. Simple activities like vacuuming, taking a walk, and driving my car weren't possible. Now that I am healed and healthy, sitting around is not an option for me. I encourage others to get up and get moving when they can.
I have been blessed with a gift of knowing how much people love me and support me. They have been like gusts of wind, pushing me through my healing and blowing me forward as I explore new experiences. I hope to inspire people. I am learning to embrace my story and my happy personality. I have been saved by love and appreciate all the moments that I am alive. It sounds so simple. Maybe it really is.
