I discovered yoga while working on an intense Y2K project at a startup in NYC. I turned to fitness as a way to stay healthy and manage my stress during these crazy busy times and the habit stuck. I became a group exercise enthusiast taking classes most days of the week and finding community at my local gym.
One of my favorite yoga teachers Elle Kaplan, decided to offer a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at my gym and I decided to join, if for nothing else to deepen my practice. Near the end of our training, the pandemic struck. We were able to take the last bit of training online and once again I was so grateful to have this outlet to help manage stress. Once I finished my training in June 2020 a friend who teaches Zumba encouraged me to teach online. She said so many people were stressed with the pandemic and missing their exercise routines. I started teaching yoga online and developed a user base. Once things started opening up I took a part-time position at a local gym and also a position working for the parks system teaching outdoor yoga in the park. From there I expanded to teach at a 2nd gym, with a group of friends starting up a business and with a 2nd local parks system. I now teach 5 yoga classes a week. I have completed an additional 300 hours of training and over 1000 hours of teaching I am a 200 hour E, 500 hour RYT with Yoga Alliance
In 2022 a friend encouraged me to attend ZIN training with her and I eagerly joined. I got certified and added this format to my repertoire teaching 3 classes a week. Along the way I got my Aqua Zumba certification and am now teaching 1 class a week at a local gym.
As a fitness instructor, I strive to be inclusive of all ability levels in my classes by providing options and modifications to suit individual experience and flexibility. I seek to inspire my students to challenge themselves, breathe and most importantly have fun!
