I have been teaching high school art for 30 years. About ten years ago, I noticed a significant increase in teen stress and a decline in teen mental health. I became interested in using meditation and mindfulness as a way to help manage stress. I studied meditation and Buddhist philosophy and began introducing mindfulness to my students. I had been practicing yoga on and off for ten years, meditation practice brought me back to it. In the summer of 2021 I got my 200 hour yoga teacher certification and social emotional learning facilitator license. I began a daily practice and now lead teachers and students through a sequence or two every week after school. I enjoy Hatha, vinyasa, and Ashtanga yoga most but find all yoga rewarding.
