Cory Schierberl

Dr. Schieberl has been involved in the fitness industry for over 15 years. He has significant experience with curriculum development and program oversight. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Masters of Exercise Science program at Lionel University. While he teaching for much of his work, he also coaches group fitness classes and conduct small group training several times a week at GO: Fitness Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Before being hired to manage the graduate program he oversees, Dr. Schierberl was an Assistant Professor in the Sports and Exercise Studies Department at the University of Rio Grande. In addition to instructing within the Exercise Science Department, Dr. Schierberl also wrote various courses for the program, including Essentials/Principles of Strength and Conditioning (upper/lower level), Business Aspects of Fitness, General Nutrition, and a Selected Topics offering covering everything from sports injuries to sports psychology. He also wrote and instructed several courses for the Athletic Coaching Leadership Program graduate program. 

During his time at Rio, he also served in several key leadership roles, including Faculty Assembly President, Co-Chair of the Online Learning Committee, CBA Faculty Negotiator, and Wellness Committee Member.  As an Academic Advisor and Instructor, Dr. Schierberl successfully educated and guided graduates accepted to multiple respected physical therapy programs, including those of Marshal University and Ohio University (Athens). While at the institution, Dr. Schierberl also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the softball and women's basketball team.

Before teaching at the University of Rio Grande, Dr. Schierberl served as the Athletic Performance Director at Force 10 Performance, the $2 million 18,000 square-foot official training center of the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Seattle Storm. Here he was tasked with developing and maintaining the strength and conditioning programming for over 500 athletes of all ages and abilities.
