Carrie Gallic

This is a bio that I wrote for a local magazine article recently! At the end, you'll see a link to my website. There you'll find additional information about me, including photos and other tidbits.

Two things have always been true about Carrie Gallic: Her love of fitness and her love of people.

At the outset of 2023, these two passions overlapped for Carrie in a powerful and palpable way when she and her husband, Jason, opened a fitness facility on 7th Avenue, in Eugene.

DNA Glute Lab executes so much of what Carrie loves, as it pulls from her deep knowledge and understanding of fitness and body development and combines that with her desire to build a community of women focused on health and empowerment.

“I’ve loved working out, training and being in the gym ever since I was a little girl,” Carrie said. “I also love people. I love relationships. And for about a decade I’ve had a vision for working with women to create a supportive environment for reaching fitness goals. I just love it!”

Fitness and the community of like-minded people have loved Carrie right back.

After nurturing her passion for bodybuilding for over a decade, Carrie turned 30 and then turned her focus toward competing. She traveled the country competing in fitness shows, and regularly picking up victories along the way. From Oregon to Utah to Florida and beyond, Carrie was gaining experience and making friendships that would prove to serve her well.

“I learned so much during that time of traveling to shows,” Carrie explained. “I learned how to compete, what judges are looking for, and how to perfect my craft. I also learned that there was a community of like-minded people hungry to connect with each other.”

As with any journey there were setbacks. Carrie competed in multiple shows between 2017 and 2020 where earning her IFBB (International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness) Professional Card – but came up short. But while disheartened, there was never a chance that she was going to quit.

“I had a goal,” Carrie said. “And a burning desire to reach that goal, as well as a commitment to get it accomplished. It was scary at times, but I really wanted my pro card!”

And in 2021, she got it. Her performance at a Masters’ competition in Pittsburgh put her over the top and, as Carrie said, “checked that box off my to-do list!”

Winning her pro card, though, was not the last thing on her list. Next up was figuring out how to parlay her experience as a competitor – and as a personal trainer with various stops at local fitness facilities – into her own business.

“Through my 20s and 30s, I worked at lots of gyms in the area,” Carrie explained. “I started out at the front desk, checking people in, then graduated to running classes and getting more involved in training. In 2015, I took a position as a personal trainer at Genuine Fitness and that’s where my passion to build a community for women was really born.”

And that, Carrie said, is what DNA Glute Lab represents. It is a facility run by women focused on serving a female clientele.

“The safety and security that kind of environment offers is one of the most important and alluring things about our gym,” Carrie explained. “Women are busting their butts, but there’s also laughter and chit-chat and lightness that comes when we’re free to work hard and be ourselves.”

DNA Glute Lab has been open since January 2 of this year. Carrie said the gym is growing as more and more women learn about all of the benefits.

“Everyone’s goals are different. Mine were to be a pro,” Carrie said. “But for most, the goal is to look and feel the best they can. And I love being able to help them get there.”
