Tara Jacobson

Tara Jacobson has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (emphasis Fitness, Nutrition, and Health) and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University. She teaches full-time as a Kinesiology Instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College and part-time locally at Active Wellness. Tara completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Integrative Yoga Therapy at Bodyworks in Petaluma with Jean Grant-Sutton in June 2010 and obtained her 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher designation after completing a 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training, Shamanic Awakening, in Sacred Valley, Peru in August 2018. Tara is certified through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) as an Exercise Physiologist, Balanced Body as a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, and NSHC (National Society of Health Coaches) as a Certified Health Coach. Tara started her passion for movement with a love of dance and teaching dance at an early age. She has taught group exercise classes since high school and was a personal trainer for many years. Currently, her teaching schedule each term includes a variety of activity-based classes (including Mat and Reformer Pilates, Yoga, Body Conditioning, Weight Training, and Cardio Kickboxing) and lecture classes such as Principles of Health and Wellness, Introduction to Kinesiology, Pilates Instructor Teacher Training, Yoga Teaching Methodology, and Techniques of Fitness Instruction. Tara continues to take courses, certifications, and workshops each year to stay up-to -date in Yoga, Mat Pilates, Exercise Science, and Wellness. Tara also teaches in the community and has a passion for making her classes inclusive and accessible for all levels and bodies, emphasizing proper body mechanics, modifications for injuries, and most importantly to have fun while enjoying a safe and effective session.
