Julie Hurtubise

I am an energetic mother of 3 teen-age boys who loves to have fun while being active - sail, roller blade and skiing are examples. I've competed in several fitness areas - 9 mile run, ski to sea marathon as the cross country skiier on my team, and a 13 mile roller blading marathon to name a few but my philosophy is to be accepting and compassionate of oneself while moving toward your edge of what you can achieve. I see life as an adventure and one of unlimited possibilities and beauty. I truly believe in giving back - have donated time to teach yoga to the visually impaired, to classroom teachers and to disadvantaged youth. Currently studying the effect of yoga and mindfulness on caregiver and child relationships and brain development. As a CEC provider I have trained between 500 and 600 teachers, counselors and therapists on Yoga's use with students. I completed a sabbatical year 5 years ago where I helped teachers research the effects of yoga based activities across all age levels. She started the non-profit, Inner Knowing Yoga, to provide trainings and consultation for educators based on my extensive work with a wide range of student populations. Her courses are part of the University of St. Thomas  graduate level courses, and I've been  an annual presenter at the University of Minnesota's School of Counseling. Other conferences presented at: Professionals in Practice at the University of Minnesota, MACMH, Educate Minnesota, the Minnesota Association of Early Childhood Mental Health and The Minnesota Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA)
