I have been teaching fitness classes for the past 40 years. I started at age 20 with the YMCA and transitioned over to the City of Edmonton. I have taught aerobics, Walking for Health/Fitness, Racewalking (I won a bronze medal in the 2005 World Master Games in Edmonton). In 2020, I got certified in Essentrics. I have attained my Essentrics level 3 certification. Essentrics is a dynamic, deep, full-body stretch that will work through all your joints and release tight muscles. It also works on balance and alignment. It is effective for injury recovery and prevention, pain relief, stress relief and promoting healing. Essentrics is good for all ages, including older adults.
I was teaching Essentrics 6 times a week but cut back to 2 times a week so I could spend more time golfing, traveling and working out for my own personal benefit.
During my career of 37 years, I was a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA). I also had a very strong passion and love for sports and fitness. Fitness has always been a very big part of my daily life. I would work as an Controller all day and teach fitness classes in the evenings and weekends.
I played many sports in my youth and began dancing at the age of 4. From age 16 to 24, I was a semi professional Ukrainian dancer and travelled and performed in various parts of the world. I also took ballet to improve my dance technique.
My goal is to continue to work on improving my fitness and the fitness of others so we can all continue to strive to be more independent, travel, golf and do anything our hearts desire to enjoy life.
