I grew up in a close-knit, loving and supportive home. I am originally from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. I was an athlete all my life and I ran track from the time I was. 12-yers old until I graduated high school. I earned a track and field scholarship to attend the University of Puerto Rico where I majored in Linguistics. I loved languages because I was an Air Force brat and I had grown up all over the country and in Japan.
I worked for ten years for the federal government as a Public Affairs Specialist and, although I worked my way up the ladder, ultimately achieving the position of Operations Manager overseeing one-third of the state in Alabama and supervising 55 employees, I wanted to work for myself and not be tied down by bureaucracy. I became a freelance voiceover and on-camera talent as well as a fitness professional and I produced Alabama’s first-ever Spanish language TV Commercial. I also co-founded Birmingham -Area Chamber of Commerce’s first-ever Hispanic Business Council.
I discovered the benefits of yoga while I was trying to shave time off of my running route. What ended up happening was I fell in love with what yoga did for my body, mind and soul. It ended up healing old wounds from a very traumatic event in my life and bridged a gap that helped me bring my fitness and my holistic and true-self world together.
I speak Spanish and French and enjoy traveling. I met my husband, Haakon while I was on vacation in Puerto Rico. I believe that fitness is the fountain of youth and that vacations can truly be magical. I think it would be fantastic to be a positive experience in people’s wellness and vacation. I would really enjoy making someone’s vacation very memorable.
