Katherine Christensen

Kate is known as the "ever-ready bunny", always on the move.  Fitness has been part of her life for decades and she has been a student of a variety of disciplines including various Yoga practices. Following her recent retirement, she set out to learn more about yoga, a personal journey, and was asked to teach at her community Fitness Center starting as a substitute.  With her classes in demand, she currently teaches five classes each week and subs for others.  Her favorite curriculum is Vinyasa Flow and Hatha, but she has also created "Slow Burn" blending flow yoga and stretching, similar to a Pi-Yo; an Ashtanga format as well as a gentle class for those familiarizing themselves, those that want to see if they are fit for Yoga as well as a restorative class. She has had success with children's yoga and working with active seniors through the Chandler/Gilbert Community College (AZ) for the Fall 2024 thru Spring 2026 semesters.  She has achieved her 300RYT certificate and an Ayurveda certificate, reflecting her ongoing dedication to holistic wellness and sharing the benefits of fitness with others.  Additionally, she has made a few trips to India (11/2023 and 11/2024) and one to Bali (5/2025) where she practiced under master Yogis for two week periods.

Kate holds a Criminal Justice Degree (AA)  and an International Business Degree (BS) from Arizona State University.

Previous professions included Airline public relations and events as well as law enforcement and precision shooting.  Dedicated and accountable to her current yoga practice, she enjoys learning Spanish and Italian, Skiing, Kayaking, Paddleboading, Biking, HIIT classes of various types, Pilates, Water Aerobics and of course traveling, leaving little but most importantly time with her family and six grandchildren, all of whom have their own yoga mats and exercise balls and work out with "Mimi!"
