Yoga has been a consistent part of my life for 25 years now, since discovering the practice as a way to mitigate the stresses of medical school. My practice evolved as I tried on the different disiplines of Bikram and Asthanga styles as well as Vinyassa Flow and Kundalini. In April 2023 I graduated from the 200 hour Yoga Six Teacher Training Program and was certified by Yoga Alliance, and have been teaching at my home studio Yoga Six.
For me, Yoga is a moving meditation, body work practice and breathwork practice as well as a platform to connect with the energy and intention of a like-minded community. In my classes, I aspire to guide students with launguage, breath and curated music to a state of focused attention and greater ease and empowerment in the body and mind. With each class, I weave in a simple theme or intention and guide students to take their practice off the mat and into their world. Saftey is a priority and students are encouraged to be their own best teacher and modifications are offerred for the asanas. Additionally, I offer intelligent hands-on assists to help the student deepen the experience of an asana, should they so choose. Finally, I like to a keep a little spark of lightheartedness in the music, launguage and energy; yoga should be fun!
Off the mat, I am a wife, mother of 2 teen boys and also a pediatrician practicing for over 20 years now. I feel that my medical background allows for some extra insight into anatomy, injury mitigation and people skills.
