Susan Barnes

I trained as a physiotherapist in the UK  and became a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists in 1978. I worked in the UK as a physiotherapist for 2 years. I was young and keen on travel so I took a break from physiotherapy for a year and took a job  in a small store on a tiny Greek island. In 1982, at the age of 24, I emigrated to Canada to pursue my physiotherapy career. I have worked  in several different fields of physiotherapy during my career, working in clinics providing 1:1 treatment and teaching exercises to injured workers and  accident victims. I taught aquatic exercise at the local community pool for over 25 years  and I currently instruct clients on a 1:1 basis on appropriate aquatic exercises.

I have recently added a Yoga Instructor's training to my tool kit and often  the  Yoga classes that I teach offer a little of everything! I find that I am able to offer a diversified tool kit when clients need modifications due to physical limitations.

My weeks consist of  teaching yoga, practicing physiotherapy and looking after my 3 year old grand daughter.

I Currently teach Yoga 1-2 times a week at my local Yoga studio. My class is a 6.00 am hot mellow flow class. I also teach a  couple of  Yoga classes a month at my granddaughter's toddler group. During the upcoming ski season, I will be teaching Yoga to a small group of friends once a week, in our little log cabin.

In my current  physiotherapy practice I visit clients in their homes or meet them at their gym or at the pool to provide exercise advice. I am the owner/operator of Mobile Physiotherapy Solutions. I have chosen this business model as it gives me flexibility and the opportunity to travel.

In my personal life I am a committed grandma, avid cyclist, snowshoer, skier and hiker.
