Fay Angela Bruney

I was born in Jamaica, moved to Toronto Canada when I was 5 years old. I've been married for 37+ years and have 2 adult children. We are proud veterans of the Canadian military, relocating to several different places over the 20 years my husband served with the military. Our family settled in Western Canada when my husband retired.

My life has always been hectic and fast paced, sports has always been an important part of my life,  playing competitive volleyball in college as well as playing for the Canadian junior national team. I've had the opportunity to coach several different sports including the military mens volleyball team for 4 years, taking the team to the national finals and winning.

The toll on the body and mind from living a busy lifestyle pointed me in the direction of yoga over 15 years ago. I quickly discovered an internal passion for yoga that was unmatched. Whenever my life started feeling out of control, I was able to reground myself no matter where I was in the world, there was a sense of calm when I found my yoga mat.  My teachers have always told me that I have a spiritual energy surrounding me (Probably age:), I've always been encouraged by my teachers to share my energy. In 2018, I decided to deepen my practice by signing up for my first 200 hour teacher training with Outbound. It was a spiritual journey of self discovery, I felt a sense of rejuvenation and clarity with my life. After graduation, I had to opportunity teach yoga at a few high schools where I also coached volleyball as well as community centres. It was extremely rewarding to pass on the energy and light to others that I've always felt within my practice.  I continued teaching part time a couple times week, while managing my restaurant.

Life completely changed in 2020 when COVID stopped the world. Yoga was what saved my life through regular practice and meditation I was able to get through one day at a time. Yoga helped me to find clarity and purpose, I decided to to expand and  renew my teacher training, I completed the Breathe 200 hour teacher training as well as 3 specialized workshops to deepen my own practice which would allow me to help others through my teaching. I continue to share my energy by teaching at least twice a week at 6am, in my opinion the perfect way to start your day!

During my recent vacation at Secrets st. Martins last month, I met and practiced with Tracy Trapnell who is a member of Fit Body, Tracy and I instantly connected and she told me how amazing the Fit Body community is. I also connected with the hotel manager for the entertainment group, whom gave me Suzette Snowden contact info. Once I returned back to Canada, I knew this was what I was meant to do!
