I played sports all my life and got a scholarship playing volleyball and softball in college. After I graduated, I stopped everything! The weight ballooned and before you know it, I was 100 pounds overweight! I made the decision to get the weight off and keep it off. Joined a gym and started taking advantage of all they had to offer. I fell in love with fitness. I started teaching fitness classes over 20 years ago, then getting certified, starting with the Les Mills Bodystep. I taught for several years before moving over into the hospital setting teaching in the wellness department. After a couple of years, I got certified in water so I could teach there with aerobics and water therapy classes. During that time, I also received my personal training certification and train, also in the wellness setting. I also teach a fitness class, of my design, that I call Bend, Build, and Balance. It is a class designed for all levels of fitness. We do aerobics, weight training (done in a chair) and balance exercises. My goal with my fitness career is to keep people moving. Doesn't matter what they do, as long as they are moving. I feel I can do this every day in my classes.
