Sophie Mariam

Sophie is a proud Denverite and loves all things yoga, fitness, and outdoor adventure. She first found yoga and dance fitness in high school through her lifelong passion for dance but found a deeper connection to the practice in graduate school as she discovered the power of presence, breathwork, and returning to the mindfulness we find on the mat throughout our day. She earned her 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Yoga Alliance while completing her Master's degree in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is certified in zumba as well as numerous fitness formats such as Bootcamp, HITT, TRX, and dance fitness through TruFusion, where she currently teaches in Denver, Colorado. 

Although the dance-like nature of vinyasa and the physicality of the asana practice pulled her in, she enjoys how the physical aspects embody a deeper energetic practice. She loves the intuitive flow and intentionality which drew her to contemporary dance and ballet- but it also introduced her to a new world where movement can be a liberating and deeply healing practice, especially in a world where our inner critic's voice can become far too loud.

In her classes, Sophie strives to cultivate self-compassion and gratitude for the opportunity to grow, both on and off the mat, through building strength and body awareness across fitness and yoga formats. Her class will be a space for challenge and empowerment, as she often chooses to focus on celebrating our bodies for powering the forms of movement that bring us joy.

While you can find her pursuing her passion for policy research during the day, she always makes time to arrive on her mat at the studio and find presence through both fitness and yoga. Outside of the studio, you can find her hiking the day away, crafting, and exploring Denver's art and stand-up scene.
