“The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness.” —Sakyong Mipham

When I first started practicing yoga nearly 15 years ago, I was a runner and did it for the “stretch”. Over time, running was no longer an option, so I tried other workouts to stay in shape. But I always kept coming back to yoga finally seeing benefits beyond the stretch; it was good for my body, mind AND soul.

Having lived overseas and travelled around the world, I sought out yoga classes or studios wherever I went. Jokingly I would tell my husband that when he retires, I could be teaching yoga on the beach somewhere. Because yoga is something I love, I wanted to be able to share it with others, so in December 2022 I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Jennifer Schrage from Entouch Yoga, Massage, Wellness in Clinton Township through Lotus One Yoga in New Baltimore.

By day, I run the Harrison Township Senior Center where I teach yoga once a week. I’ve had the privilege of teaching pop-up classes at gyms, through community events, retreats and teaching free community classes with the Move Collaborative. ~ Namaste
