Stephanie grew up in Yukon (Canada) and has live there on and off for most of her adult life. She began her yoga journey in 2003 while attending University. As a student, stress management and relief from anxiety and negative thoughts was critical; on her mat, Stephanie was able to let go of the many worries and thoughts swirling around in her mind. Over the years, yoga has given her a way to balance the emotional challenges of life with health, energy and gratitude. She integrated Pilates into her practice for strength building and core support in preparation for childbirth and continued after her two children were born to support the new needs of her body.
Stephanie teaches Hatha yoga classes with an emphasis on intuitive practice where students turn inwards finding their natural rhythms and body needs. She encourages her students to do what feels good in their bodies, and sometimes that means moving when no one else is. Her classes are fun and energetic with some silliness to keep the experience light and enjoyable. She integrates pranayama and longer relaxations into her classes to restore the body and find energetic alignment. In her classes she aims to create a positive, safe space where students will challenge their bodies in movement with the breath, finding a sense of joyous release. Her classes are accessible to multiple levels and options are provided to support all yogi levels.
Stephanie brings the fire in her Pilates classes. You can expect to do a large portion of the Pilates series but not as they were traditionally planned. She often does not integrate props, favoring body weight and a focus on alignment. While these classes are a challenge for your body, the goal is to find alignment with the mind and really feel the movements with an integrated understanding and focus. Focus is key, and yet she still makes space for fun and silliness.
Stephanie is also a Certified Wellness Coach and often her coaching may find it's way into her classes through though provoking questions and statements to keep you on track with your wellness goals and journey.
