Hi I'm Shay!
I started practicing Yoga in 2009. I was living in a remote town, had never practiced practiced before and was looking to be my most toned, jack self. Yoga seemed like the perfect opportunity. I challenged myself with flows, almost became competitive myself wanting to be the bendiest, strongest Shay I could be. If I wasn't getting a sweat on, the practice wasn't for me! I focused on Yoga for sometime for only the physical benefits, mentally I did not realize how much it was doing for me until I went through major life changes in 2011.
Yoga, literally saved my life. In this challenging time, there was nothing I felt I needed more than yoga. Moving my body, letting my mind settle in and giving myself the grace that I needed allowed me to do this. I had a complete mental shift. I learned how to breathe on my mat. I shifted my focus to how it made me feel rather than how it would help me look. I knew that I needed to share this with others, to teach them the true benefits of the yoga practice.
In 2022 I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. My goal was to share yoga teachings with others and to get the awareness out there that Yoga truly is for everyBODY. I am a Registered Nurse and have used my teachings and depth of anatomy/physiology knowledge with patients and staff. I continue to teach yoga regularly with focus on teaching how to move your body and make the most of your movements. Doing a pose the right way does so much for the body and also the mind. I pride myself on the gentle adjustments I am able to give to make the most of ones practice.
Yoga continues to get me through lifes challenges. Although I am still fitness focused I am able to settle with myself, to breathe and have learned to slow down and learned that "it's not about being good at something, it's about being good to yourself"
