Salut!
Today I was up by 5:30 am with my requisite coffee, gearing up to teach my 6:30 am Spinning class at the YMCA of Cambridge. I am a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer and I teach regularly scheduled classes at the Y and at the community collage. My full time job is with the City of Cambridge. I work out of one of the community centres: the W.G. Johnson Centre/Ted Wake Lounge, where as the recreation coordinator, I juggle a number of differing portfolios. I program for the Ted Wake Lounge 50+ recreation centre, am the city’s volunteer lead for the 50+ centres, liaison with a youth group (HTMS), a 50+ special events committee, the Ancient Mariners canoe club, Hespeler Village Neighbourhood Association, Hespeler Santa Claus Parade and the July Forbes Park Music Festival. I have four summer playground sites under my wing, one of them being a French-speaking program (je parle francais en peu); it’s a busy job.
Evenings, you will either find me organizing something somewhere in the community or attending a meeting. I am past president of Cambridge Toastmasters; I box at a local studio (Firepower Boxing) and in my down-time, I enjoy reading (yes – I find the time!). If I am not gardening in the summer, I am teaching a First Aid instructor’s course for the Canadian Red Cross or the Lifesaving Society on weekends.
I SCUBA dive when the water is warm, and ski downhill and X-country in the winter. I used to own a powerboat and water ski but I boat-less right now and not loving it. I enjoy biking to work if I don’t have a meeting to go to and the weather is perfect. I know how to snowmobile, fly a plan (was taking lessons and hope to start them again), and jump horses. In my spare time, I love to entertain and cook for my friends.
