Todd Shepherd

I am a Logistics Business Development Professional working for DB Schenker. I have traveled to over 35 countries as my job, as a global account manger, requires me to manage operations around the world.  I began my career in 1993 right out of Michigan State University. I worked for UPS & DHL before my current employer of 5 years.

It was at Michigan State where I discovered my passion for bodybuilding. I began lifting in the rec center where the football team trained and eventually moved on to Powerhouse gym. I spent my 20s working in logistics and lifting when able. I switched my primary focus from lifting to cardio fitness in my 30s and began competing in races, and joined several intramural sports teams playing football in soccer.

I discovered group fitness in 2002 and quickly became a fan and transformed my body to what most people would call a "CrossFit" body today. At 37 (in 2007) I reached my peak physical condition and also discovered a new passion, electronic music, at the same time. I began DJing and also decided to become a Group Fitness instructor, initially focused on Cycle. At the time, in Michigan, everyone played rock music or rap or pop and tried to simulate a real ride outdoors. This was cycle circa 2008-2010. I started bringing my own lights, mixed electronic playlists with big level changes, and introduced moves like push-ups on the bike. This was before Soul Cycle had become a national craze. My classes were packed with lines out the door, especially the Friday evening classes.

In 2010, I expended into teaching circuit training and weight lifting classes. Again keeping the electronic music theme but more focused on deep house to simulate a nice groove rather than the big level changes for cycle. 14 years later I am still teaching these classes and am told I am one of the fittest 54 years olds people know.

I met my wife Vanessa at LifeTime in 2014 and we now travel the world together whenever I get vacation. We are both group fitness instructors, she much more than I as it is her primary job, and we always exercise on vacation and check out the gym/spa wherever we stay.  She is also certified in yoga and dance and is signing up for this as well. She will be the primary instructor and I will be the additional instructor if there are cycle, bodyweight training, HIIT, or weightlifting classes.
