I’m a long-time yogi, but in 2023 I resolved to average five classes per week.  Around the end of February, I realized I was on pace to average one per day, so that became the new goal.  I finished with 368.

When classes were cancelled at my gym because a sub wasn’t available last minute, I was asked to lead.  I wasn’t comfortable doing so without certification.  Early in 2024, I changed that by starting a 200-hour certification program.  I completed that on May 14 and taught my first classes on May 31 when an instructor was locked out of her vehicle thirty minutes before her scheduled classes.  Though I wasn’t fully onboard, management gave me the green light, and I taught vinyasa & yin.  I thankfully had a vinyasa script that I had prepared for my video submission for certification.  For yin, I winged it, and both were well received.  We have an AWESOME yoga community, and they gave me so much support.

On December 31, 2024, I taught my 100th and 101st classes.  I also finished the year with 367, as averaging one daily is likely a new baseline.  On July 23, 2025, I got to teach my 200th class, filling in with about thirty minutes' notice for a yin class.  On the weekly schedule, I teach two slow flow (gentle) classes but sub whenever I can.

My wife and I have six kids between us.  They are all either away at school or working, making us empty nesters.  We’re regulars at our gym, and we enjoy wine, food, movies, travel, and of course, yoga.  If we can combine any of them, even better.  One of our favorites is Vino Vinyasa at a local winery.  I also play soccer (& referee), tennis, and sand volleyball.  We also attempt golf and are members of a couple of book clubs.

I work to build community in every class I teach with introductions and try to address any requests.  I also read a positive song to end shavasana.  It’s my personal touch.  I very much look forward to teaching around the world!!!
