Bio for Kim Blair Kim first began teaching group fitness classes and training clients 25 years ago after studying dance while growing up in North Carolina. After obtaining a degree in managerial psychology, Kim moved to California and worked as an aerobics instructor while pursuing a career in human resources. While living out West, Kim began studying Iyengar yoga and soon found that the discipline improved her posture and helped to relieve pain caused by arthritis and scoliosis. Eager to share her passion for yoga and the tremendous health benefits she has gained from it, Kim eventually trained to become an instructor. After moving to Virginia, Kim decided that her part-time work in the fitness industry was more rewarding than her full-time job as a Human Resources Professional. Eventually, Kim left the corporate world to pursue her love of fitness and has enjoyed every minute of helping others achieve a more productive and active lifestyle. Kim is certified through AFAA as both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and holds additional certifications in YogaFit, BOSU balance training and Resist-a-Ball stability training. Although yoga remains her first love, Kim has taught all types of classes: low impact aerobics, total body conditioning, weight training, water aerobics, STEP, BOSU and boot camp. Locally, Kim has taught and trained at Piedmont Athletic Club, Evergreen Country Club and Dominion Valley Country Club where she also served as the Fitness Director. Kim particularly enjoys teaching the 55 and older clients and those with physical limitations. Visit her website at www.fitnessfromtheheartllc.com to learn more about the business she founded. Most recently, Ms. Blair accepted a full-time position managing a Community Center where she helped grow the Gentle Yoga program. Kim’s responsibilities include overseeing a full service facility complete with a group fitness studio, weight room, gymnasium and athletic fields. The center offers a variety of classes for all ages including yoga, pilates, Tae Kwon Do, dance and personal training. Kim continues to receive excellent reviews wherever she goes. Her students praise her ability to “teach” versus “perform”. When you attend a class with Kim, you understand how the body is supposed to be aligned, how to protect yourself from injury and how to modify exercises to suit your ability. Most importantly, Kim motivates her clients to get moving, have fun and exercise safely.
