- Sid Shapira
Sid Shapira was introduced to the sport of pickleball in 2014 and was immediately captivated by this rapidly-growing recreational activity.
Before long, he convinced Bay Club Carmel Valley, the premier fitness club in San Diego County, to incorporate the sport into its programming schedule. Today, pickleball is thriving at the club with both indoor and outdoor programs going strong.
Sid has competed in the pickleball competition at the San Diego Senior Games, winning the gold medal in men’s singles for his age group in 2021 and 2022.
Currently, Sid teaches pickleball classes (group and semi-private) for MiraCosta College Community Education and for San Diego Oasis. He has also conducted private and semi-private lessons for many clients over the past several years. In addition, he frequently gives pickleball clinics at various nonprofit fundraising events throughout San Diego County.
Sid is a Certified Coach through the Professional Pickleball Registry, the official education and certification partner of USA Pickleball.
It gives him great joy and satisfaction in introducing newcomers to this fun and addictive sport.
