- Cara Bethel
Cara Bethel is a BCRPA (British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association) registered Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL) and fitness instructor with 25+ years of experience teaching everything from Aquafit, cardio kickbox, step, Zumba, muscle conditioning, HIIT, and spin. She started instructing while achieving her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University (SFU) before getting into recreation full-time. At first, Cara taught fitness classes internationally as a Club Med fitness instructor, and then worked in recreation management roles, managing up to 50+ instructors at Mount Royal University, the YMCA Robert Lee, and SFU.
After achieving her Masters of Education in Health Education at SFU, Cara now works full-time as a Learning Consultant at the Fraser Health Authority but continues to stay in the recreation world by teaching two fitness classes a week for the City of Port Coquitlam and subbing for Curtis Health at her corporate gym.
She has recently started to design, develop and lead fitness workshops for local fitness instructors to earn continuing education credits and is excited to have been invited to lead 2 sessions at the annual provincial fitness conference in October 2024.
