Angela Strickland

Angela graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University with degrees in Psychology and a Master’s degree of Science. She obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has focused her practice on rural healthcare in Southern West Virginia for the past 7 years. She is a published author in state and national magazine publications, a former Vice President of The West Virginia Physical Therapy Association, a Lifetime Member of Psi Chi, an academic honor fraternity for Psychology, and an ACE certified fitness instructor. Angela has recently formed the organization OPEK: Obesity Prevention and Education for our Kids; to support her platform that focuses on the childhood obesity epidemic in West Virginia. She serves her community as the West Virginia State representative for DASH: Domestic Abuse Stops Here; for which she organized a cell phone drive, collecting over 100 phones for domestic abuse victims. In the past, she has served on the fundraising committee for Habitat for Humanity and Catholic Charities. As a fitness instructor, Angie enjoys teaching a variety of classes. She uses her passion for exercise to bring responsible fitness to gym members and patients, believing everyone can move something. She enjoys incorporating her intense (physical therapy based) knowledge of the body combined with diverse fitness trends including dance, yoga, pilates, HIIT, and even belly dancing to create fun and enjoyable classes appropriate for all wellness levels. Angela has been competing, judging, coaching and coordinating pageants for six years. Since that time she has held the titles of Mrs. West Virginia-American Queen, and Ms. West Virginia All-American. She has won two congeniality awards, photogenic awards, a position as a top 10 finalist at the Mrs. West Virginia-United States Pageant, and 4th runner-up to Ms. All-American. In addition to her pageant experience she has worked in fashion shows and been featured in print advertisement. She resides in Beckley, WV with her husband Jon and two labs, Piper and Zoey.
