Mrs. Gloria L. Chatman: A Visionary Leader in Dance, Therapeutic Movement, and Education
Mrs. Gloria L. Chatman, the esteemed founder of Danspiration Center Inc., stands as a paragon of achievement and inspiration. Guided by a divine vision, she has established a multitude of innovative Dance and Movement programs across diverse clinical and educational settings in the vibrant Metro Chicago area.
Married for over thirty-five years to her devoted husband, Demetrius, this remarkable union has blessed them with three exceptional daughters. Like their mother, these gifted young women possess not only a passion for dance but also a remarkable talent for song. Mrs. Chatman embodies the virtues celebrated in Proverbs 31:10-31, reflecting the essence of a truly virtuous woman.
Understanding that education is the cornerstone of fulfilling one's aspirations, Mrs. Chatman earned a Bachelor of Science in both Dance Education and Art Education, followed by a Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy. She has served as a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist and is a distinguished member of the American Dance Therapy Association. Currently, in her role as Coordinator of Dance and Chairperson of the Fine Arts Department at Southland College Prep High School, she continues to shape the next generation of artists.
With over forty-five years of dance experience, Mrs. Chatman’s artistry and passion continue to flourish. As the Executive Director of Danspiration Center, Inc. in Richton Park, IL, her exceptional contributions have earned her a place in Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Women, with her biography featured in the 2008-2009 Commemorative 50th Anniversary edition.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mrs. Chatman has realized numerous goals and dreams. She remains unwavering in her commitment to Danspiration Center Inc., where she expertly tailors dance programs for individuals aged 2 to 102, harnessing the transformative power of movement to inspire and uplift. As a licensed Dance Educator at Southland College Prep High School, she imparts her knowledge in Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, and Lyrical Dance. She spends after-school hours rehearsing for dance productions with her students, and teaching Line Dancing instruction to her colleagues.
As Mrs. Chatman looks toward retirement in the coming years, her vision is to continue empowering adults to embrace the aging process through the enriching gift of dance and movement. Meanwhile, she eagerly anticipates traveling with her husband, celebrating the beauty of life’s journey.
