Pickleball transformed the health of my patients during the height of the pandemic in Canada.  

I want to share a story of my patient Esther, who had early symptoms of dementia, balance problems and memory issues.  She was only in her early 60’s but her cognitive function was deteriorating and she struggled with insomnia.  To make matters worse, she lost her job, which increased her stress levels and limited her social interactions with others.  Her mental health was not good and she was developing depression symptoms.  

To slow down Esther’s cognitive decline, I encouraged her to exercise regularly and increase her social interactions.   She came back 1 month later telling me that she started playing Pickleball. I had never heard of this sport.  

Over the following months, Esther’s cognitive and physical health improved by leaps and bounds.  She was sleeping through the night, her memory and coordination improved and her outlook on life had dramatically improved.  She piqued my interest to try out pickleball…

I am a Naturopathic Physician and Registered Acupuncturist with over 20 years of clinical experience.  I help athletes and everyday people recover from injuries using natural and holistic strategies.  I have a special interest in combining my knowledge in anatomy and physiology to help pickelball players perform better and prevent injuries.  

I began my pickleball journey about 4 years ago and I have been obsessed with playing the sport regularly and sharing this with all my friends, family and patients.  I am actively playing in tournaments and sponsored by the largest pickleball company in the U.S., Selkirk.   My DUPR ranking is at a 4.69.
